SCROLL TO REDISCOVERFAN MADE, WITH LOVE. IN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT

The magic you remember.
The possibilities
you imagined.

A new engine for an unforgettable adventure.

Project PINTO is a fan project rebuilding the engine for Threads of Fate, the PlayStation adventure also known as Dewprism. Its world, characters, and original event scripts are coming to life again in modern C#.

It reads the assets from your own game disc dump. The ambition is to preserve the personality of the original while making room for modern controls, smoother presentation, a friend beside you, and future mod support.

RUE & MINT

Old friends.
New possibilities.

The details that made it special.
The freedom to take them further.

01

A world, faithfully rediscovered.

Original rooms, character models, animations, and scripts run in a new engine. The opening stories, town conversations, and early forest encounters are already taking shape.

PLAYABLE SLICE
02

Two heroes. One more reason to return.

Choose Rue or Mint and connect for two player network co op. Each player has their own controls and gameplay camera, with shared story progression being developed and tested.

CO OP IN DEVELOPMENT
03

That familiar feeling. A lighter touch.

Smoother rendering, mouse and gamepad navigation, a modern in game menu, and quick ability wheels bring a fresh feel to Rue’s transformations and Mint’s magic.

IMPLEMENTED SYSTEMS
04

Planned mod support.

Mod support is planned so the community can customize and extend PINTO. The tools and supported changes are still to be defined; modding is not available yet.

PLANNED
05

Separate paths. A shared adventure.

Optional split area co op is planned: explore different areas, follow Rue and Mint’s separate routes, and reunite later. This is a future goal beyond today’s together play slice.

PLANNED
A mysterious boyRue.

A familiar face. Twenty one forms. Still the quiet one.

A spunky princessMint.

World domination can wait. Probably.

ORIGINAL ABILITIES.
A NEW ENGINE UNDERNEATH.

What could possibly go wrong?

YOUR PARTY. YOUR CHALLENGE.

Easy does it.
Or raise hell.

Five multiplayer difficulties, from a gentler adventure to Hell Mode. Normal is the default. The host chooses the rules before everyone readies up.

Friendly fire is optional from Easy through Relic Mode and starts disabled. In Hell Mode it is enabled. Your attacks can hurt your partner. Mint, please aim carefully.

Multiplayer bonuses compared with the original solo game
Difficulty Enemy HP Enemy damage Friendly fire
Easy +25% +10% Optional
Normal DEFAULT +50% +20% Optional
Hard +75% +30% Optional
Relic Mode +100% +40% Optional
Hell Mode +200% +50% Enabled

These bonuses scale enemies for two players. Even Easy adds enemy health and damage compared with solo play. Enemy damage bonuses do not increase friendly fire damage.

A WORK IN PROGRESS

Good things
take a little
adventure.

This is an active development project, not a finished game. Here’s where the journey stands and where it’s heading.

Follow along on Discord

THE FOUNDATION / BUILT

Reading the original world.

Disc reading, room geometry, character models, textures, animations, and event script execution are in place.

THE PLAYABLE SLICE / NOW

Bringing the adventure together.

Rue and Mint’s openings, Carona, early combat, and two player co op are being connected and refined. Full campaign fidelity and real world multiplayer validation remain ongoing work.

THE HORIZON / PLANNED

More ways to share the world.

Broader campaign support, modding, and optional split area co op so players can separate and reunite later. These are future goals, with no release date promised.

Before you
begin.

What you need to play, what’s included, and how we respect the game that brought us here.

Still curious? Ask on Discord
Do I need my own copy of Threads of Fate?

Yes. You need your own copy of Threads of Fate and a disc dump made from that copy. PINTO reads the game’s assets from your dump at runtime. The project does not replace buying or owning the original game.

Need a physical copy? Look for Threads of Fate on eBay .

Does PINTO come with the game files?

No. PINTO provides a new engine and launcher, not a copy of the original game. We don’t supply game discs, ROMs, ISOs, or PlayStation BIOS files, and we don’t provide links to game downloads. You supply your own disc dump. Need a physical copy? Look for Threads of Fate on eBay .

What’s the project’s stance on piracy?

We don’t support piracy. Please don’t request, share, or link to pirated game files or copyrighted BIOS files in the community. We won’t help source unauthorized copies. Supporting PINTO starts with respecting the original game and the people who made it.

Is this an official release or an emulator?

Neither. Project PINTO is an independent fan project by DigiDougie, unaffiliated with Square Enix. It rebuilds the game’s behavior in a modern C# engine rather than emulating PlayStation hardware. Threads of Fate, Dewprism, and their original assets belong to Square Enix.

Can I play the complete adventure yet?

Not yet. There’s a playable development slice covering the heroes’ openings, Carona, and early forest encounters, with systems still being connected and checked. Full campaign support is ongoing work. Follow the project on Discord for development updates and playtest information.

Can I play with a friend?

Two player network co op has an early playable slice and is still in development. Together play follows the host’s chosen hero’s story; complete campaign co op is not finished. Both players need their own game copy and the same PINTO build. Optional split area play, where you separate and reunite later, is a future goal. Choose from Easy through Hell Mode, with optional friendly fire through Relic Mode and friendly fire enabled in Hell Mode. See the difficulty settings.

When will the full game and modding be ready?

There’s no promised release date. PINTO is an independent passion project, and features need time to be implemented and tested. Broader campaign support and modding are planned. The journey section above separates today’s work from future goals.

How can I help or report a problem?

We’re looking for artists to help design the game’s UI. See the help wanted section below. For other ways to help, join the Discord and introduce yourself. For a bug report, include your PINTO version, your hero and location, what you expected, and the steps that reproduce the problem. Screenshots or a short recording can help. Please keep original game files out of your report.

What does PINTO stand for? Is it a boat?
